Caitlyn R. Paté Fund

The Lewis County Hospital Foundation established the Caitlyn R. Paté Fund to support families that have suffered the loss of a child through miscarriage or stillbirth.  The Fund was created by Benjamin and Jacqueline Paté when they were faced with the loss of their stillborn daughter at 37 weeks gestation in 2014.

The fund will support parents who have experienced a similar loss of a child with the gift of a bereavement care package that includes a memory box with items to help families through the grieving process.

The memory boxes will be donated to Lewis County General Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center for parents suffering from a pregnancy loss, stillbirth, neonatal loss or SIDS.  With increased donations the program will expand to other regional hospitals. Each year a Remembrance Walk/Run will be held to honor the babies who have died and raise funds.

The fund will provide parents with a bereavement care package that includes:

  • A blanket for the baby

  • A CD with songs for healing and remembering

  • A journal for expressing feelings about the loss

  • A memorial book to capture the memories of their child

  • Their child’s footprints

  • Books for siblings to help them understand what has happened

  • Information about support for the bereaved families

  • Financial assistance for families who cannot afford to print pictures of their child who died.  The Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep organization has volunteer photographers who take pictures at no cost to document the time parents have with their child.

  • Families who suffer a miscarriage will be given a book titled, Empty Cradle, Broken Heart

If you would like to support this fund for families who have suffered a loss of this magnitude, please send a tax-deductable donation to the Hospital Foundation designated for the Caitlyn R. Paté Fund.
